Project Summary

The Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education (also known as CareerTech or ODCTE) is located in the north-central Oklahoma town of Stillwater. CareerTech provides leadership and resources, and assures standards of excellence, for a comprehensive, statewide system of career and technology education. CareerTech offers programs and services in 29 technology center districts operating on 54 campuses, 400 comprehensive school districts, 26 skill centers, and 3 juvenile facilities. CareerTech is governed by the State Board of Career and Technology Education. CareerTech works closely with the State Department of Education and the State Regents for Higher Education to provide a seamless educational system for all Oklahomans. CareerTech is seeking to develop a comprehensive, fully Web-based, statewide information system. This project is a direct reflection of CareerTech's commitment to it's strategic plan and specifically addresses goal number four, "Manage resources to accomplish the system's mission." Objectives

  1. A single, fully integrated, CareerTech Information System for statewide data management.
  2. Migration of the existing CareerTech legacy application data into the new system.
  3. Provide access to current Oracle database, via ODBC, for reporting purposes.
  4. Include School Interoperability Framework (SIF) compliance via Zone Integration Server/Agent capabilities for data exchange.
  5. Provide flat file upload and download capabilities for data exchange.
  6. Provide extensive reporting capabilities.
  7. Provide recommended solution for hardware and system administration functions to implement and manage the CareerTech Information System.
  8. Provide research and development of data modeling solution.
  9. Provide training of vendor-supplied system to appropriate personnel designated by ODCTE.
