The Division provides design and implementation of Information Systems, Training, and Technical Assistance to individual Users and Divisions in the application of computer technology to assist the Department to meet its stated Goals and Objectives.

SYSTEM DESIGN AND COMPUTER SUPPORT (SDCS) OVERVIEW

The System Design and Computer Support (SDCS) staff provides IT infrastructure, software, peripheral products, and services necessary for success in your position at ODCTE.

SDCS staff are assigned to the following work units: Network Services, Security, Open Source Applications Development, Oracle Applications, User Services, Training, and Computer Support.

Network Services. ODCTE's IT infrastructure is based on a variety of network technologies. Novell file and print services are made available through Ethernet and wireless networks. Virtual private network (VPN) provides staff with secure remote access to network resources, and Novell GroupWise is used for calendaring and staff email accounts. Our computer network is the backbone of all agency applications and is used in some form or fashion for virtually every activity at ODCTE.

Security. Our security efforts are focused on creating a safe and secure computing environment for ODCTE. Basically, keeping the “bad guys” out of our IT infrastructure and minimizing the downtime users may experience from attacks while protecting the agency’s information resources and safeguarding the confidential information entrusted to our care. We provide modern security policies and practices, security awareness training, ongoing security monitoring, and security issue resolution.

Applications Development. The programmers and development staff develop, implement, and manage software applications that support the mission and vision of CareerTech. Our applications development staff provides customized open source software solutions and Oracle implementations used by staff within the agency and in the field.

User Services. The User Services staff supports agency desktop IT resources. Software, hardware, and printing resources are deployed and supported throughout their lifecycle in accordance with the agency technology plan. User Services staff assist agency staff with their daily operations and special events when IT resources are needed.

Training. Our computer and software training program is provided as a value-added service for agency staff. The program is designed to improve staff efficiency and effectiveness with the standard computer equipment and software packages used in the course of completing the agency’s work.

Computer Support. Computer Support is your single point of contact for all of the agency’s IT resources. Our help desk is staffed during normal business hours. Our goal is to get you the help you need to solve your problems quickly and prevent them from reoccurring.

CONTACT INFORMATION: When you need help with your IT equipment and software, please call Computer Support at (405) 743-5173 or email support@okcareertech.org to create a call ticket.
